"I Feel Pretty" Movie Review

Amy Schumer entertainment can be hit or miss. When she's headlining, it's hard to know if we're getting a Trainwreck or a Snatched. While I Feel Pretty isn't Trainwreck caliber, for me, it lands on that end of the spectrum for a Schumer film.

I Feel Pretty finds Schumer as a woman struggling with her less-than-ideal body image. After hitting her head, her perception of her body suddenly changes, and this newfound confidence begins opening doors and change everything.

While it's a film with a respectable and timely message aimed at the average woman, ts preachy moments are balanced with on-point jokes and legitimately comedic scenarios. But the life of I Feel Pretty comes from Schumer, who's witty and charming persona believably swings from self-conscious to over-confident, which is vital to the effective delivery of the film's message.

There are components to the plot that come off as cliche or unnecessary, like a romantic conflict meant to challenge Schumer's interest in the average guy versus the ideal guy, but never clearly communicates the point to the conflict.

So, ultimately, I Feel Pretty isn't a perfect movie, but the idea after all is that being acceptable doesn't mean being perfect.
