"The House With A Clock In Its Walls" Movie Review

Despite strong performances from Jack Black and Cate Blanchett, The House With A Clock In Its Wall’s biggest issue is its rating from the MPAA. This film does not seem to be for PG audiences and had it been rated PG-13, it probably would be much easier to enjoy.

Jack Black is good, however Cate Blanchett was great and did well in carrying this film. Still, the story which was catered to younger audiences involved both the implication of graphic murder & a full fledged demon on screen. Those are both no go's. This film reminded me more of the TV Show Supernatural than the Goosebumps reboot or even Harry Potter.

That all brings us to Eli Roth. Why would this production enlist a director best known for films like Hostel? It doesn't seem to be anywhere near a good fit.

If you're planning to take your kids to this one, you may want to rethink that. Otherwise, their nightmares are gonna make you feel like there's a clock going off inside your walls.
