"Better Watch Out" Movie Review

I get excited when a movie has a stellar twist that I did not see coming, but I'm afraid it's a concept that most horror movies have no grasp of. Fortunately, Better Watch Out gives audiences better things to be afraid of than poor execution.

Better Watch Out is such an enticing horror movie because of its element of surprise. It seems that every time viewers think they know what's going to happen, the movie switches gears and ups the stakes for the characters to unexpected levels. Some plot points are appalling. Some are jaw dropping. Some are, as I might say on Twitter, "twisted AF".

But, as deranged as this movie might get, it all adds up to a genuine horror experience unlike anything we've experienced in a while. Instead of capitalizing on cheap scares and loud startles, Better Watch Out relies on strong performances from lead actors Olivia DeJonge and Levi Miller to bring to life horrific situations and how they each choose handle them.

I promise you, this holiday home invasion is not what you think. As a terrifying film, Better Watch Out is more naughty than nice; both bad and good for goodness sake.
