Let's talk about sex. Because, watching Blockers, audiences have to be prepared for awkward conversations about the birds and the bees. But what's refreshing about this comedy is that these conversations are less about "how" it works, and more about why it's awkward in the first place, which makes the premise more entertaining than your average comedy.

At the center of Blockers are six characters: three parents and their three daughters. Each struggles with this critical coming-of-age point in the young girls' life, and it all comes to a head (forgive the pun) around their prom night when the girls make a pact to lose their virginity that the parents find out about.

There are moments in this movie that are comical. Then, there are sequences that are laugh out loud hilarious, which brings me to what may seem like a strange point: it feels rewarding to watch a comedy that's actually funny.

But the rewarding nature of the film doesn't stop there. Beneath the series of gags is thoughtful commentary regarding society's perspectives on young people and sex. With an eccentric cast, heartfelt message, and great comedy, Blockers is a movie you should not block from your to-watch list.
