'The Rise of Skywalker': Final Trailer's Out, Tickets On Sale
We’re nearing the end.
The final trailer for the much anticipated Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker debuted during halftime of Monday Night Football, and it promises to be an epic finale. But the best part is that with the debut of this trailer, fans can now lock down their tickets for the opening week of the film.
The Rise of Skywalker sees JJ Abrams returning to the Star Wars director’s chair to bring the Skywalker saga to a close in this climactic 9th episode. Abrams went on the record last week with Entertainment Weekly about this film, indicating that his goal in The Rise of Skywalker was to create as cohesive of a story as possible with these 9 films.
It’s quite the challenge, but if anyone’s up for it, it’s Abrams, who reinvigorated the Star Wars universe when he took on directing The Force Awakens which released in December 2015. The baton was then passed to director Rian Johnson for Episode VIII, but audiences were deeply divided about the direction Johnson’s The Last Jedi took with the characters and the story.
“This is about bringing this thing to a close in a way that is emotional and meaningful and also satisfying in terms of actually answering [as many] questions as possible.” Abrams told Entertainment Weekly. Hopefully these are welcomed words to a fan base jaded by The Last Jedi and indifferent about two A Star Wars Story spinoffs.
“Endings are the thing that scare me the most,” Abrams says, but we expect he’ll give The Rise of Skywalker his best. Just like how the fate of the galaxy is in Rey’s hands, the legacy of Star Wars and the Skywalker lineage is now rests on Abrams.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker opens in theaters December 20th. Tickets are on sale now.
