How to Watch All of the MCU in Chronological Order Leading Up to Avengers: Endame
After more than 10 years of superhero movies, Marvel Studios has vowed to bring the Avengers saga to an epic conclusion this year when Avengers: Endgame wraps up the storylines of more than 20 films.
If you’ve followed the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the years, you’ve likely seen most of the movies in order of their release. Each movie has had it’s plot point, story arches, and easter eggs that justify their place in theatrically released order. But if you’re familiar with the MCU, you’re also aware that theatrical release order doesn’t mean the stories occur in chronological order.
So, if you’re planning one final MCU marathon before Avengers: Endgame, I’ve got something special for you.
This, my fellow MCU fans, is a schedule to watch ALL of the MCU films leading up to Avengers: Endgame, and it’s special for a few reasons.
For one, we’ve factored the final standalone MCU movie into the mix. Captain Marvel is our final glimpse into what stories and twists Marvel has up their sleeve before Endgame. And with Captain Marvel being one of their strongest superheros, it will be exciting to see what her story arch brings to the MCU. After all, she is the one hero Nick Fury chose to call after the infamous snap from Thanos in Infinity War.
We know that in Captain Marvel, Nick Fury and Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) first meet in the 90’s…long after the events of Captain America and a decade or more before Tony Stark became Iron Man. So it’s expected that their teaming up in this film will shed a lot of light on the events leading up to Avengers: Infinity War, and subsequently, her eventual involvement in Endgame.
In addition to including all of the MCU films, this list spaces out viewing them all in a reasonable manner. Watching 20+ films right before the release of Endgame can be incredibly difficult. But our schedule makes spacing them out easy. From the opening weekend of Captain Marvel (March 8), you can watch three movies per weekend (or one every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as outlined), and get all of them in just in time for opening weekend of Endgame on April 26.
I know for myself, a new Avengers movie has always been a good excuse for a movie marathon. With so many films to re-experience now, I hope you find this list and schedule to be a new and refreshing way to experience all of the Marvel movies we’ve enjoyed.
