"MIB: International" Is A Blockbuster Popcorn Film and Not Much Else

MIB: International is an up and down affair that is better than expected, but nowhere near as good as the cult classic original in the franchise. However, the film features great special effects and enough humor and heart to make it enjoyable.

Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth have some decent on screen chemistry, but certainly less than that of their MCU outings together. But for me, the character that carries the film the most is also one of the smallest: Pawny, played by Kumail Nanjiani. This pint-size alien character’s humor carries the film through what would otherwise be described as slow and dull scenes.

The visuals are fantastic, as CGI blends flawlessly with live action. But the film tries way too hard to complicate the “mole in the MIB” storyline while being fairly predictable from the onset. The alien visitors also don’t seem to put our suit-wearing heroes in any real danger.

MIB: International generates a fun, enjoyable popcorn film experience that most audiences might enjoy. It’s the second best MIB film in the franchise - now if only I could get the studio to neuralize me of the memory of those two that came before it.
