Bad Boys For Life Is The Best of the Franchise
ForReel Score: 10/12 | 4 Stars
The last time we saw our favorite Bad Boys they were taking down a deranged Cuban drug lord. Now, 17 years later we get the belated threequel with even more heart, humor & self awareness than its predecessors. It was certainly worth the wait.
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence reprise their roles as Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett and their chemistry on screen is as if they had been working together since the last film in 2003. The story sandwiches action packed sequences between absolute hilarity which will have you grinning from start to finish. I found the self awareness of the characters aging to be refreshing and relatable. The action sequences produced a less exhilarating experience than some of the set pieces from the first two of the series. It was noticeable that former Director Micheal Bay was absent on this film (outside of a brief cameo appearance). Fans of the franchise will also be able to pick up on tracks from the previous scores in key moments while the new additions leave more to be desired.
If Bad Boys For Life is what to expect from this franchise moving forward then please sign me up….for life.
