Now Attending: The 2020 Vancouver International Film Festival

At last, we have once again arrived at VIFF.

This will be my third year covering the Vancouver International Film Festival, and even though attending this year will be very different from how I’ve experienced VIFF before, there is still a lot I’m excited share about the festival.

Because of the state of the global pandemic, VIFF 2020 is being conducted as an online-primary festival. While some movies and events will take place in select theaters with all of safety precautions necessary in place, the majority of the festival’s lineup will be available to stream online for BC residents via VIFF Connect.

Want to know what I’m looking forward to watching this year? I hopped on a Zoom video call with my good friend Matthew Simpson of Awesome Friday to discuss our top 5 most anticipated films at VIFF. Check out which VIFF selections were on the top of our minds here:

There will be over 100 feature length films at VIFF this year. 63 of those are narrative features. 38 are documentaries. There will be 98 short films. 34 world premieres. Over 60 countries represented. And I’m excited to also bring you personal discussions and interviews with select filmmakers featured at the festival.

Suffice to say, there is a lot to look forward to, and I’m excited to once again bring coverage of the festival to you here on ForReel.

Let’s go, it’s time to VIFF!
