SXSW 2022 | Festival Curtain Raiser with Thomas Stoneham-Judge and Taylor Baker

SXSW 2022 is upon us, so it’s time to take a look at what we’re looking forward to most at the festival.

Last year, SXSW returned to conduct the festival completely online. While participating with that, Taylor Beaumont and I had the privilege of seeing fantastic films like Ninjababy, The Feast, and Ma Belle, My Beauty. I also hosted interviews with the director and cast of See You Then and and co-directors of the documentary We Are As Gods.

Now, with promising films like I Love My Dad, A Lot of Nothing, Jethica, and Diamond Hands: The Legend of WallStreetBets on the docket, this year’s SXSW film festival is sure to be an exciting experience.

SXSW 2022 runs from March 11 to March 20, and with concerns about Covid easing up, the event will be a hybrid festival, with their film festival, music festival, and conferences all happening in person in conjunction with a virtual version. While some feature films will not be available to us covering the festival virtually, SXSW has stacked their platform with a ton or great films, talks, and experienced to enjoy from the comfort of home, with 48 hours to watch most films from their premiere time.

To help talk about the virtual side of the festival that we will be participating in, I got our friend Taylor Baker from Drink In The Movies on the line so we can discuss what we're most looking forward to at the festival this year. And while fellow ForReel writer, Taylor Beaumont, couldn’t join us on this video, he will also be publishing reviews from SXSW 2022 as well.

In this video, Taylor and I talk about what we're looking forward to with the festival experience, which films we're most excited for, and the recommendations we have on films that are crossing over from Sundance to SXSW.

Enjoy.
