My journal as a critic began in 2019 when I started writing reviews for my website, Entertainment Essence. Over the next four years, I sharpened my skills as a critic, which are attributed to my recently completed degree in Cinema and Media Studies at York University. Throughout my time at York, my understanding of filmmaking on and off the screen enhanced and resulted in more perceptive and coherent reviews. I would write, edit and publish my reviews myself, and share them on every social media website available.

In addition to my website, I sought out high-profile publications to contribute to not only reach a wider audience but learning and working alongside some of the most experienced film critics/journalists in the country. In late 2022, I started writing for That Shelf, where I learned to work alongside a team of writers who engage with large audiences.

My ambition to grow further as a critic led me to ForReel in 2023, where I began to explore filming and editing videos to post on social media platforms. This approach allowed me to reach thousands of viewers who are eager to initiate discussions surrounding film and the industry as a whole.

Throughout my time as a critic, I've gained confidence in my voice and outlook on film. As I grow in an always-changing industry, I plan to use my position as a critic to inspire others to look at film from a more nuanced approach and discuss it with as many people as possible.
