"Bodied" Release Date Set For November 2, According to IMDb and BoxOfficeMojo
Could November 2nd the long awaited theatrical release date of the racial comedy/drama, Bodied?
Movie information sites like IMDb and BoxOfficeMojo have listed November 2, 2018 as the new release date for this highly anticipated film, where a newfound white rap artist gets caught up in the underground world of battle rapping, using clever yet increasingly aggressive and offensive language to attain status in the community.
Bodied has enjoyed a rather successful film festival run since it debuted at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2017, so far earning an 89% on Rotten Tomatoes as of the date of this post. I was fortunate enough to catch a screening of this film at the Seattle International Film Festival with my only knowledge about it (and the biggest selling point for me) being that it was produced by popular rap artist Eminem.
I could not believe what I was witnessing for that 120 minute duration, as my attitude towards the film went from off-put and confused, to engaged and entertained, to educated and informed, to indescribably impressed. What director Joseph Kahn was able to do with Bodied made it a theatrical experience unlike anything I've seen before.
As I mentioned in the review I wrote, this is not a movie everyone will enjoy. If the theatrical cut is the same as what I saw at SIFF, Bodied can get extremely vulgar and offensive, but with each rap battle, and thus the movie itself, is impeccable delivery that deserves high praise.
This is why I have anxiously been awaiting an announcement for theatrical release. As of now, November 2, 2018 is that date, and I cannot wait to sit in a theater full of viewers who, like the main character in Bodied, are completely unaware of what they are about to get themselves into.
