ForReel Box Office Summary - CHRISTOPHER ROBIN Underachieves MI: FALLOUT maintains top spot

In a weekend where nearly every new release failed to reach original studio projections Mission Impossible: Fallout maintains its spot at #1 with a respectable $35 million. Meanwhile, Darkest Minds flopped - making roughly half of studio projections and failing to crack the top 5 in its opening weekend.

Christopher Robin's opening is also disappointing and is the lowest opening of Disneys animated to live action reboots in recent years. Is this a sign of things to come or just a bump in the road? Only time will tell.

Here's how the top 5 shaped up:

1. Mission Impossible: Fallout | $35 million | $124.3 million

2. Christopher Robin | $25 million

3. The Spy Who Dumped Me | $12.3 million

4. Mamma Mia! : Here We Go Again | $9.1 million | $91.5 million

5. The Equalizer 2 |  $8.3 million | $79.8 million

Next Weekend,  we have another 4 films looking to knock off MI: Fallout for the top spot: The summer shark film The Meg, the horror film Slender Man, an undercover African American cop infiltrates the KKK in BlacKKKlansman, and the comedy revolving around the lives of dog owners in Dog Days.

Our question for you is this: Do you believe Christopher Robin's underachievement is a sign of things to come for Disneys planned live action reboots? Or is this just a minor setback? Let us know in the comments!
