Interview: "The Curse Of La Patasola" Discussion with Director AJ Jones and Producer Gillie Jones

A new curse is making it's way to theaters, and I’ve got it covered!

THE CURSE OF LA PATASOLA reaches steaming and select theaters on January 14th, and I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to interview director AJ Jones and producer Gillie Jones, the filmmaking duo who also star in the film with Patrick R Walker and Najah Bradley.

In the film, two couples find themselves on an unexpectedly contentious camping trip - Daniel (played by director and co-writer AJ Jones) is constantly debating differences in social and cultural perspectives with Naomi (Najah Bradley) as Daniel’s wife Sarah (played by producer and AJ’s real-life wife Gillie Jones) and Naomi’s boyfriend James (Patrick R Walker) struggle to keep the peace. But when Naomi tells a campfire story from her Columbian heritage about a creature who kills and bewitches those unfaithful to their partners - La Patasola - the group begins to realize that perhaps this legend is more than just a spooky campfire story.

It’s a film with tension, comedy, and build up to an intense third act with a monster like you’ve never seen before. In this interview, I talk with AJ and Gillie discuss the challenges of making a horror movie during Covid and how they approached bringing La Patasola to life, with a few fun conversation detours that include sports talk and theme parks.
