"Venom" Movie Review #2
"The world has enough superheroes." That may be true, however, Venom adds not to the legacy of recent strong superhero films; rather to the list of those that make you go 'meh'.
Tom Hardy is fantastic as Eddie Brock/Venom, but that's the one and only thing about this film that is fantastic. The rest of the cast is forgettable. Many of the action sequences are a mess, which are very difficult to see or follow (WHY WOULD YOU THROW SMOKE GRENADES SO YOU CANT SEE?!?)
The story of the symbiote is interesting, but the motive of the films chief antagonist is extremely weak. You're really gonna use climate change again, Hollywood? We just saw that in the Predator reboot.
At the end of the day, Venom is not a horrible film, but it's also no where near being a great film. Still, for those who are fans of the comic book anti-hero, this film should suffice.
