"Kingsman: The Golden Circle" Movie Review

6 out of 12

There's nothing quite like watching gentlemen cut loose and kick ass. This latest outing from the high-class intelligence organization does that with some emotional flare to boot.

The reason I enjoyed The Golden Circle so much is because the mythology behind the Kingsman is so rich (pun intended). And in this movie, that mythology is appropriately expanded to explore another branch of the dignified and well-liquored intelligence community when we're introduced to the Statesmen. There is so much to explore with how these organizations work and operate, and I think The Golden Circle does a great job continuing to build this underground world.

The rest of the movie, however, is a bit of a mess. The action's eccentric and oddly reminiscent of 2008's dizzying Speed Racer. Some portions of the film don't make sense. And, for such a socially relevant conflict, The Golden Circle misses the opportunity to say something meaningful.

Regardless, I had fun with this movie. Julianne Moore nails her psychotic villain and is quite the highlight of the film. As is Elton John. But be prepared for a long, drawn out movie. The suits might be tailored perfectly, but the movie has many many flaws.
